Emily Veldman
is an Artist and Illustrator based in Los Angeles
Veldman invites viewers to discover an imaginary world through her artwork. Her world is filled with furry characters and flower friends in their homes and landscapes which incorporate layers of patterns and textiles. Veldman is influenced by the arts and crafts movement and uses textiles and soft mediums such as felt, yarn, embroidery, construction paper, buttons, and craft paint. Her work is nostalgic for childhood and shows the playfulness and whimsy often found in children’s illustration.
Veldman has her Bachelors of Fine Art in Illustration from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan and her Masters of Arts Management from Columbia College Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. Besides showcasing her artwork, she has also been an exhibition coordinator and organized and curated exhibitions and events in both Grand Rapids and Chicago. You can find her on Instagram @veldmanemily or at the children’s craft table in most art museums throughout Los Angeles.
